Job summary

Ares Management Corporation seeks a Vice President of AI Platform Engineering to design, build, and scale a comprehensive enterprise AI platform. This hands-on role leads major platform components, collaborates with AI engineering, data, and security teams, and delivers secure, scalable AI solutions across the firm.

You will own critical platform services, develop APIs and tooling, and contribute to architecture standards while advancing governance, observability, and FinOps capabilities for

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering, data engineering, machine learning engineering, or related experience.
• 2+ years hands-on experience building Generative AI, LLM, ML, or AI platform solutions in production.
• Strong Python engineering skills and production-quality software development.
• Experience designing and developing APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.
• Hands-on with a major cloud platform, preferably Azure.
• Experience with containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, automation, and modern DevOps practices.
• Practical experience building LLM applications using RAG, embeddings, vector search, prompt engineering, tool use, or agentic workflows.
• Familiarity with model evaluation, observability, and production monitoring for AI systems.
• Understanding of software security, authentication/authorization, secrets management, secure development practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production-grade AI platform services and components.
• Own major platform workstreams from design to production and operation.
• Develop reusable APIs, SDKs, services, and tooling to enable teams to build AI apps.
• Contribute to platform architecture, standards, and engineering best practices.
• Partner with AI engineering, data engineering, and business teams on technical decisions.
