Job summary

MidPen Housing Corp. seeks a Vice President-Controller in Foster City to lead the accounting department, ensure GAAP compliance, and drive financial strategy across corporate, development, property, and resident services.

The role requires strong leadership, mentoring, and communication, with a track record in managing financial reporting, audits, and tax processes. CPA preferred; experience in affordable housing is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting with 10 years of progressive accounting responsibility or equivalent.
• Significant leadership experience as Controller or Senior Accounting Officer.
• Experience within affordable housing/real estate industry preferred.
• CPA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees safekeeping, control, and accounting for assets and securities.
• Directs organizational financial affairs per GAAP and regulations.
• Oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems.
• Ensures compliance with US GAAP, regulatory requirements, and MidPen standards.
• Leads audit and tax preparation activities and manages auditors/outsourced vendors.
• Supports CFO in engagement with Board on audit, tax, and financial results.
• Oversees treasury, cash reporting, and investment performance in line with policies.
