Job summary

Housing Assistance Corporation is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the organization’s accounting and financial reporting functions. Reporting to the Chief of Staff - Finance, the Controller provides strategic and operational leadership for all accounting activities across HAC and its affiliated entities.

The successful candidate will maintain the integrity of financial records, uphold internal controls, manage audits and regulatory filings, and develop a high-performing accounting team

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• 3+ years of supervisory or management experience.
• Experience closing monthly and year-end books.
• GAAP financial statements and internal controls experience.
• Strong Excel and accounting systems proficiency.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting functions including GL, AP, AR, payroll.
• Supervise and develop accounting staff.
• Maintain internal controls and drive process improvements.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, annual close and financial reporting.
• Prepare statements for leadership, Board, funders, lenders, regulators.
• Coordinate audits and regulatory filings.
• Manage grants, restricted funds, and affiliated entities.
• Oversee treasury, cash management, budgeting, and forecasting.
