Job summary

Independent Community Bankers of America in Washington, DC seeks a Vice President of Congressional Relations to advocate ICBA’s legislative positions before Congress and regulators. The role informs members on congressional activities and coordinates policymaker interaction.

The position is open to applicants in the Washington, DC area. You will draft testimony, monitor legislation, and develop lobbying strategies with regulatory teams, while attending events and briefings as ICBA representative.

Qualifications

• Minimum BA degree; law or public policy degree preferred.
• Minimum seven (7) years in government relations or a trade association; banking/finserv knowledge preferred.
• Strong written, analytical and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with Congress, Hill staff, bankers and ICBA colleagues.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Maintain contact with members of Congress, their staff and committee staff.
• Orchestrate grassroots lobbying efforts and PAC event attendance.
• Draft and negotiate bill language and amendments; cover hearings and report on proceedings.
• Develop lobbying strategies with regulatory teams and assist member visits.
• Draft testimony, letters, position papers, and regulatory comments.
• Represent ICBA at conferences and coalition meetings.
