Job summary

Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) invites a Vice President, Congressional Relations to advocate ICBA’s policy positions before Congress, regulatory agencies, and the Executive Branch. In the Washington, DC area, you will inform ICBA members on congressional activities and interact with policymakers.

You will manage relationships with members of Congress, staff, and bankers, draft amendments, and coordinate lobbying strategies with regulatory teams, while supporting ICBA’s

Qualifications

• Minimum BA degree: law or public policy degree preferred.
• Minimum seven (7) years of related government relations or trade association experience.
• Experience banking/financial services issues; Congressional experience preferred.
• Strong written, analytical and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with Congress, Hill staff, bankers and ICBA staff; travel 10%.

Responsibilities

• Maintain contact with members of Congress and staff.
• Orchestrate grassroots/grass tops lobbying efforts.
• Attend PAC events and assist members visiting offices.
• Develop, draft and negotiate bill language and amendments.
• Cover and report on Congressional hearings and legislative markups.
• Work with members to formulate association positions.
• Draft congressional testimony, letters, position papers, and regulatory comments.
• Prepare members testifying before Congress and agencies.
• Assist with scheduling and reporting on committee meetings and events.
