Job summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking an AI Application Engineer in New York to design and deliver cloud-native AI solutions that automate and optimize core workflows. You will work with internal business and engineering partners to convert ambiguous problems into secure, reliable AI products and define where agents should act versus where humans should intervene.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 9+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building, deploying, and supporting production applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, or Go, with sound software engineering practices.
• Proven experience translating complex business requirements into cloud-optimized architectures and scalable data models.
• Experience in forward-deployed or internal client-facing engineering models, including rapid prototyping and production handoff.
• Extensive experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and secure, observable deployments.
• Experience integrating LLM/AI capabilities into production applications (RAG, embeddings, vector search, etc.).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead rapid prototyping and delivery of cloud-native AI applications.
• Partner with business teams to identify high-impact AI opportunities and define scalable architectures.
• Embed with core business teams to map workflows and define control boundaries for agentic automation.
• Build AI solutions using LLM APIs, embeddings, vector search, and structured outputs for production use.
• Apply cloud-native services, secure deployment patterns, observability, and MLOps practices for scalable solutions.
• Document solutions, mentor teams, and enable long-term ownership through knowledge transfer.
