Job summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking an experienced software engineer in New York to design, build, and operate high-availability, cloud-native services across multiple regions. You will lead AI-driven development, govern AI coding agents, and collaborate with global teams to modernize trade and P&L platforms.

You will work with Java 17+ in a fast-paced, AI-centric environment, ensuring secure, observable systems and scalable architectures that enable rapid delivery for trading desks.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience in Java (Java 17+).
• Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools and governance of AI agents.
• Experience building event-driven and distributed systems using messaging platforms like Kafka.
• Strong SDLC practices including version control, CI/CD, automated build/test/deploy.
• Strong testing discipline across unit, integration, and acceptance testing.
• Ability to rapidly navigate, understand, and debug large/unfamiliar codebases with AI aid.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across geographically distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate high-availability, multi-region, cloud-native services with security and observability built in.
• Develop event-driven architectures, multi-stage processing pipelines, and optimized data paths for high-throughput trade lifecycle management.
• Partner with engineers, domain experts, and global stakeholders to model and digitize business processes.
• Manage the full lifecycle of software components from requirements to release following robust SDLC/Agile practices.
• Innovate creative solutions to complex business and technical problems, building reusable capabilities across front, middle, and back offices.
• Multiply impact with a modern AI-centric toolchain, orchestrating AI agents to accelerate delivery.
