Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to provide operational oversight of volunteer recruitment, screening, orientation, training, and retention within the Department of Volunteer Services.

The role partners with hospital leadership and staff to interview, onboard and support volunteers, while leveraging the volunteer database for reporting, compliance and program evaluation. A Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of related experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years coordinating volunteer activity or related HR work.
  • Strong experience in volunteer services and program management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Initiative and problem-solving to improve processes.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting, interviewing, onboarding and training volunteers.
  • Providing regular communication to volunteers.
  • Building relationships with stakeholders and volunteers.
  • Using volunteer database for reporting and compliance.
  • Planning and evaluating the impact of the program.
  • Collaborating with Director on program growth.
