Job summary

More Than Words, a Boston-based nonprofit, seeks a Volunteer Coordinator to manage group volunteer events, engage individual volunteers, and support the Advancement Department with donations and donor recognition. The role requires organization, strong communication, and a passion for MTW’s mission.

Work will be based at the Boston site with occasional off-site events; schedules include up to 29 hours per week, with evenings or weekends as needed. Compensation: $24.00/hour.

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma
• Be consistently moving towards educational outcomes
• Have transitioned from MTW at least 2 years prior to apply
• At least 21 years of age
• Be able to follow through on commitments
• Be passionate about the MTW mission
• Have a learning mindset and want to learn a lot of new technical skills
• Love to be organized
• Enjoy communicating both by writing and speaking
• Prior experience with data-entry, office work, financial systems, or data analysis is a plus

Responsibilities

• Group Volunteer Events: Run 1-3 events weekly, greet volunteers, coordinate tasks and logistics.
• Individual Volunteers: support intake, outreach, and attendance tracking.
• Department Support: donor processing, tax receipts, and event support.
• General: represent MTW at community events and volunteer fairs; assist with small projects.
