Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have supervisory ability.
• 3-5 years’ experience in volunteer program development and coordination.
• Familiar with Word, Excel, Publisher, and/or other desktop applications.
• Ability to work and relate well with people.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Must be able to type 45 wpm.
• Meet all health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department and The Salvation Army.
• Team-oriented and self-directed.
• Must have a valid California Driver’s License.
• Before hiring, submit DMV driving record with fewer than two violations in the last 12 months.
• Must pass Fleet Safety Test.
• Certification and participation in The Salvation Army’s Fleet Safety Program annually.
• May not obtain more than two violations in one year.
• Fleet Safety Policy compliance required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a volunteer program aligned with divisional goals.
• Create detailed job descriptions for short-term and ongoing projects.
• Establish centralized recruitment, background checks, placement, and evaluation.
• Collaborate with corporate partners to create meaningful volunteer opportunities aligned with CSR goals.
• Support Marketing/Communication to promote opportunities and events.
• Coordinate LA Metro Echelon Chapter and regional collaborations.
• Provide ongoing training and orientation for volunteers.
• Maintain the volunteer database and generate quarterly engagement reports.
• Assist with major Salvation Army events and fundraising efforts.
• Represent The Salvation Army at meetings with organizations and stakeholders.
• Present to corporate executives and service clubs to promote the mission.
