Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a Computer Systems Engineer/Architect. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing VMware and Azure cloud-based solutions tailored to DeCA's needs. This role requires a strong understanding of Data Centers, SAN solutions, VMware, Microsoft Cloud Technologies (Azure), and operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix).

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and performance of on-premises and cloud services.
2. Assist in planning, managing, supporting, and overseeing DeCA’s Azure PaaS/IaaS environment, including migration activities.
3. Provide solution recommendations based on expertise in Microsoft Azure.
4. Utilize best practices to drive decision-making, evaluate alternatives, and make informed recommendations.
5. Maintain high availability features in the Azure environment for mission partners.
6. Familiarize with Azure portal and technologies used in DeCA’s cloud environment.
7. Design and implement VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Servers, and related components.
8. Maintain and troubleshoot VMware infrastructure for optimal performance.
9. Create, manage, and provision virtual machines, templates, and snapshots.
10. Manage virtualized infrastructure components like storage, networking, and security.
11. Document VMware configurations and support other IT personnel.
12. Plan and implement disaster recovery solutions for VMware environments.
13. Coordinate with networking and storage teams to ensure cohesive infrastructure.
14. Provide enterprise infrastructure support and SAN support, including lifecycle management of hardware and software components.
15. Identify risks and rewards to meet organizational objectives.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Customer service/support skills.
• Understanding of vSphere security, role-based access control, and hardening guidelines.
• Experience with VM hardware, templates, cloning, and snapshots.
• Hands-on experience with vRealize Suite (vROps, vRA, vRLI).
• Familiarity with VMware SRM and replication for disaster recovery.
• Design, deployment, and management of enterprise VMware infrastructures.
• Experience with build and configuration documentation.
• Knowledge of systems architecture and management tools.
• Experience supporting medium to large, complex systems.
• Ticketing system experience (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy).

Qualifications:

• Minimum three years' experience in Azure support within a medium to large organization.
• Baseline Certification: IAT II or higher (e.g., Security+, CySA+).
• Must obtain at least one Computing Environment Certification within 6 months.
