Care New England Health System seeks a HIM Vital Statistics Specialist to complete and file birth and death certificates per Rhode Island Department of Health guidelines. The role processes certificates, registers affidavits of paternity, ensures data accuracy, and supports the State Bureau of Vital Records.

You will collaborate with hospital staff, assist external departments, and use current software while learning new programs. A focus on accuracy and confidentiality is essential.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 3 years healthcare clerical experience; knowledge of medical terminology and word processing.
• Experience with health information applications; knowledge of RI DOH Vital Records laws.
• Typing speed of at least 50 wpm; ability to operate standard office equipment; independent work.

Responsabilités

• Ensure accurate birth and death certificate processing and filing.
• Serve as liaison between patients and the Department of Health, Division of Vital Records.
• Support hospital staff and assist external departments with vital records processes.
• Utilize current software and learn new programs as needed.
• Contribute to department goals and perform other duties as required.
