Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Public Health is seeking a Customer Service Representative to assist on-site customers with vital records services. The role includes explaining policies, determining entitlement, and issuing certified documents.

You will enter applications into the vital records system, collect fees, and reconcile discrepancies for audits. Additional duties include processing amendments and general clerical tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; experience in a customer service role preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree may substitute for required experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist on-site customers for vital records services; explain policies and entitlement.
• Enter data into electronic vital records system; handle fees and document issuance.
• Initiate amendments (affidavits of correction, paternity acknowledgements, etc.) and establish delayed birth certificates.
• Perform general clerical tasks such as filing and organizing records.
• Other duties as assigned related to the position.
