Job summary

The State of South Carolina's Department of Public Health is hiring a Customer Service Representative to assist on-site customers with vital records services. You will screen applications, determine entitlement, issue copies, and handle data entry and fee processing in a secure, audit-ready environment.

Preferred candidates may include bilingual Spanish skills, an associate or bachelor’s degree, and substantial clerical experience.

Qualifications

• State minimum: high school diploma and relevant program experience; a bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
• Agency requires three (3) years of customer service experience and two (2) years of face cashiering or banking experience; on-site typing test at 45 wpm.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; subject to approval by SCDPH leadership.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with applications for certified copies of vital records and verify information and entitlement.
• Enter data into the electronic vital records system and handle fees; ensure audit-ready accountability.
• Initiate amendments and delayed certificates; perform general clerical duties and site housekeeping.
• Other duties as assigned related to the position.
