Job summary

The George Washington University in downtown Washington DC is seeking a VISTA Leader to build the capacity of the GW/DCPS program that places VISTAs to support Title 1 schools. The VISTA Leader will guide, develop, support and liaise with the other VISTAs, help VISTAs identify partnerships, seek resources, and expand communications and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Ability to reach out to, lead, coach, and support VISTAs and stakeholders.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience designing and leading volunteer programs.
• Ability to plan ongoing training and development for VISTAs.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and levels of organizations.

Responsibilities

• Provide observation, advice, feedback, and guidance to VISTAs.
• Arrange training and professional development for VISTAs.
• Provide opportunities for personal growth for VISTAs.
• Help VISTAs identify and engage potential community partners.
• Gather and share information about effective partnership practices.
• Support resource development strategies by VISTAs.
• Engage parents, community members, and higher education volunteers.
