Job summary

The State of Mississippi is seeking a Customer Service Representative I in Lauderdale County Welcome Center to greet visitors and share information about attractions and local services.

You'll work in the Visit MS Division of the Mississippi Development Authority, providing travel guidance, answering questions, and supporting events at the center. This full-time role offers an annual salary of about $23,141.90 and opportunities to engage with the traveling public.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 0-1 years of experience preferred
• Experience with customer service is beneficial

Responsibilities

• Provide information to the traveling public
• Direct tourists and answer questions regarding attractions, accommodations, historic sites, mileage, geography, culture, heritage, and shopping areas
• Attend training programs, seminars, familiarization trips, and special meetings
• Prepare assignments from workshops/seminars for submission to Jackson office by deadline
• Compile reservation reports from accommodations reservations made for traveling public
• Maintain cleanliness of Welcome Center building interior
• Assist with special projects
• Plan, organize, and implement activities and events held at the center
• Participate in Chamber of Commerce, tourism, and civic activities in the local community
• Serve as official representative of the state when necessary
