Job summary

The Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks a Manager of Security and Visitor Experience to create a safe, welcoming environment for visitors and artworks. This role leads a team, develops policies, and coordinates with staff across exhibition spaces, programs, and events.

The manager will ensure accessibility, implement orientation and wayfinding, oversee admissions and retail aspects, and respond to alarms around the clock, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience in security and visitor services within a cultural or educational setting.
• Ability to design and implement visitor-centered safety policies.
• Proven leadership of a diverse team and coordination with museum staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead security and visitor experience across all spaces, including galleries, store, and events.
• Develop and enforce safety/visitor policies aligned with best practices in the museum field.
• Provide orientation and wayfinding, oversee admissions, memberships, and events.
• Supervise security staff, monitor cameras, patrol galleries, and respond to alarms 24/7.
