Job summary

Nebraska Furniture Mart Inc. in Omaha is seeking a Security Officer to provide an authoritative presence, protect property and staff, and contribute to a safe shopping environment.

Key duties include greeting customers and vendors, assisting with carts, monitoring items brought into the store, responding to incidents, conducting patrols of facilities and parking areas, and reporting findings from audits and security surveys. Requires flexibility for night/weekend hours and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Professional interaction with customers at all times.
• Flexible to changing environments and situations.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• OC foam deployment certification within 1 year (Nebraska & Kansas).
• Complete Response to Resistance and First Responder training within 90 days.
• Ability to obtain non-commissioned officer license (Texas only) within 30 days.
• Ability to work night, weekend or early morning hours as needed.
• Pre-employment screening including drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, visitors, and vendors and assist in locating staff.
• Issue electric handicapped carts and assist with wheelchairs and carts.
• Monitor and tag property entering the stores.
• React to incidents such as shoplifting or medical emergencies.
• Patrol facilities and parking areas and direct traffic during events.
• Assist customers with vehicle break-downs and retrieve carts.
• Conduct preliminary investigations, audits, and document findings.
