Job summary

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Sheldon Museum of Art is seeking a Manager of Security and Visitor Experience to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for visitors and staff across all spaces, events, and programs.

You will lead security and visitor services, develop safety policies, oversee ticketing and retail operations, and mentor a team while promoting inclusive engagement with exhibitions and the museum’s mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of professional experience in events coordination, security operations and/or management, customer service, or hospitality.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong leadership, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to recruit, develop, and manage directly reporting staff members.
• Ability to develop and monitor annual operating and multi-year project budgets.
• Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, event management systems, databases, and presentation software.
• Familiarity with operating and troubleshooting AV equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee comprehensive visitor experience across all museum spaces and events.
• Develop and implement safety and security policies aligned with best practices.
• Provide orientation and wayfinding for visitors and staff.
• Lead a team of security and visitor experience staff and monitor operations.
• Contribute to visitor surveys and report findings to museum staff.
