Job summary

Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia seeks a Security Manager to lead the Security department and safeguard visitors, staff, and collections. This on-site role requires strong leadership, policy development, and hands-on oversight of daily operations, emergency response, and security systems.

The successful candidate will mentor officers, coordinate event security, and partner with museum leadership on safety initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum seven years of security experience, including three years in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of museum policies, security, and emergency response.
Excellent written and verbal English communication.
Dependable, detail‑oriented, with a strong work ethic.
Ability to lead staff and coordinate visitor‑facing security.

Responsibilities

Oversee 24‑hour Security department operations, staffing, scheduling, and performance.
Design and update security policies and procedures.
Serve as Project Manager on the Museum security system; manage ID and key control.
Prepare and maintain Facility Security and Emergency Preparedness plans.
Develop staff training on security issues and emergency procedures.
Lead the Museum’s emergency response and advise leadership on security.
Promote customer service standards and assist visitors courteously.
