Job summary

YAI seeks a qualified educator to provide vision services in 1:1 and group settings. You will collect data, set goals, monitor progress, and prepare IEP-related reports.

You will participate in IEP, parent, and CSE meetings, and adapt lessons and materials for diverse learners, including braille and adapted books. Strong collaboration with teachers and outside professionals is required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education is required.
• Active NYS certification as Teacher of Students with Disabilities or pursuing related certification.
• Ability to plan, document, and monitor student progress and prepare IEPs.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, provides vision services in 1:1 sessions and groups.
• Collects data via interviews and observations to identify accommodations.
• Creates goals and monitors progress, documents records, and prepares reports.
• Participates in IEP, parent, and team meetings; attends hearings when needed.
• Plans lessons, assembles materials, and adapts content for students.
• Collaborates with teachers and other service providers to meet educational needs.
• Keeps flexible scheduling and adjusts plans as needed.
• Communicates with parents and external professionals about the student’s plan.
• Coordinates with iHOPE Assistive Technology Team when appropriate.
• Provides vision education consultation to staff and participates in professional development.
• Adheres to policies and performs other duties as assigned.
