Job summary

YAI seeks a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) with a Master’s Degree and NYSED certification to provide vision services in 1:1 sessions and groups, create goals, monitor progress, and prepare FVLMAs, IEPs, and quarterly progress reports.

You will collaborate with teachers and the iHOPE Assistive Technology Team, plan lessons, adapt Braille and tactile materials, and participate in IEP and related meetings, with additional responsibilities for mentoring others as Senior TVI.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree; NYSED certification as TVI required.
• Excellent writing and communication skills, including documenting IEPs and FVLMAs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; PowerPoint for creating adapted books.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision services in 1:1 or group sessions.
• Create and monitor IEP goals; prepare FVLMAs, IEPs, and progress reports.
• Attend IEP, CSE and team meetings; participate in professional development.
