Job summary

ProCare Therapy seeks a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired to empower students who are blind or have low vision within a supportive school community.

You will provide direct instruction, adapt curriculum for accessibility, and collaborate with families and teams to implement effective IEPs and inclusive practices. Experience with Braille and assistive tech is valued in this role.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching credential with Visual Impairments endorsement.
• Experience with Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive devices.
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with visual needs.
• Strong communication and collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Creative problem-solving abilities, flexibility, and a student-centered mindset.
• Previous VI teaching experience in school settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum for accessibility and meaningful engagement.
• Assess students’ needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) with measurable goals.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive learning environments.
• Train staff and students on assistive technology, orientation and mobility techniques, and other adaptive tools.
• Advocate for accommodations, modifications, and resources to support student success.
• Monitor progress and maintain accurate documentation, adjusting plans as needed.
