Job summary

Commonwealth Charter Academy is seeking a Special Education Teacher for Middle School Learning Support to deliver specially designed instruction via a virtual platform, while based at a CCA Family Service Center in Harrisburg, PA.

The role requires collaborating with teachers and families, managing IEPs, data collection, and coordinating IEP meetings, with travel to testing sites and occasional evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold a degree in Special Education or a related field.
• PA Special Education credential PK-12 or K-8 is required.
• Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in-person in a K-12 setting.
• Dual certification in Special Education and at least one additional content area preferred.
• Ability to travel for testing, field trips and school events as needed.
• 40+ hours per week and occasional evening/weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Serve as school-based special education case manager for designated caseload to ensure compliance with timelines.
• Provide direct services and instruction to learners (1:1, small group, or content-based classroom).
• Gather data, develop specially designed instruction, write goals, and implement IEPs.
• Maintain data in learning management systems and special education software.
• Schedule and conduct IEP meetings in a virtual environment.
• Collaborate with related service providers on IEPs as mandated.
• Address learner needs and barriers, ensure timely service delivery.
• Travel for state testing, professional development, and in-person meetings.
