Job summary

Automotive Software & Systems Engineering seeks a Virtual ECU Engineer to join their SWx team in Auburn Hills, MI. You will develop and maintain virtual test platforms (MIL/SIL/HIL), generate soft and virtual ECUs, and collaborate with agile teams across ADAS, energy, and powertrain domains from early design through validation.

You should have a BS in engineering and 2 years in virtual test platforms, plus experience with dSPACE/ETAS and MATLAB/Simulink, and a CI/CD mindset.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related Engineering degree from an accredited university.
2 years of experience developing virtual test platforms (MIL, SIL, HIL) in automotive applications.
Experience with virtualization, cosimulation, and system integration toolchains (e.g., dSPACE, ETAS, VVirtualTarget, QTronic Silver, Model.CONNECT, VDK, Siemens, etc.).
Knowledge of CI/CD tools and methods, plus experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK.
Thorough understanding of embedded software development (C, C++), AUTOSAR software architecture, auto code generation process and tools, and experience with software such as Visual Basic, Python, VBnet.

Responsibilities

Develop virtual test platforms (xIL) for next-generation vehicle controller testing, including soft and virtual ECU generation across multiple virtual ECU levels.
Build and evolve toolchains and methodologies for integration, open-loop and closed-loop testing, and deployment across domains such as ADAS/AD, Energy, E-powertrain, Body, Cockpit, and Connected services.
Work side by side with SW development and test engineers within agile teams from the early design phase through validation, challenging design and logical architecture with a test-first/test-right-now mentality.
Advance virtualization technologies and improve troubleshooting/root-cause analysis, automation, and methodology by applying CI/CD mindset across abstraction levels—from continuous design verification to continuous testing and deployment in highly virtualized environments.
Support interdisciplinary agile feature development and validation for advanced capabilities including ADAS and EV systems.
