Job summary

Automotive Software & Systems Engineering in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Virtual ECU Engineer to join our SWx organization. The role focuses on developing virtual test platforms and driving verification from early design through validation, in close collaboration with agile SW teams.

You will build toolchains for open-loop/closed-loop testing across ADAS, EV, and related domains, while advancing virtualization and automation with a test-first mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related Engineering degree.
• 2 years of experience developing virtual test platforms (MIL, SIL, HIL) in automotive applications.
• Experience with virtualization, cosimulation, and system integration toolchains (e.g., dSPACE, ETAS, VVirtualTarget, QTronic Silver, Model.CONNECT, VDK, Siemens, etc.).
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools and methods, plus experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK.
• Thorough understanding of embedded software development (C, C++), AUTOSAR software architecture, auto code generation process and tools, and experience with software such as Visual Basic, Python, VBnet.

Responsibilities

• Develop virtual test platforms (xIL) for next-generation vehicle controller testing, including soft and virtual ECU generation across multiple virtual ECU levels.
• Build and evolve toolchains and methodologies for integration, open-loop and closed-loop testing, and deployment across multiple automotive domains.
• Work side by side with SW development and test engineers within agile teams from the early design phase through validation.
• Advance virtualization technologies and improve troubleshooting/root-cause analysis, automation, and methodology by applying CI/CD mindset across abstraction levels from design to deployment.
• Support interdisciplinary agile feature development and validation for advanced capabilities including ADAS and EV systems.
