ATI Specialty Materials in Monroe, NC, invites you to join the 2027 VIM Process Engineering Intern program for Summer 2027. Qualifications

• Preferred qualifications in materials science/engineering and related fields.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred.
• Experience with thermo-mechanical processing of metals is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Operations to create visual standards for quality metrics on the VIM shop floor.
• Update the VIM Can-Up MIS to optimize sequence of elemental additions using thermodynamic and chemical modeling.
• Conduct refractory trials for new suppliers and document furnace liner health.
• Analyze process information to identify opportunities to improve melt quality and consistency.
• Develop and document standard operating procedures for VIM processes.
• Collaborate with Operations and Engineering to investigate conditions and develop practical solutions.
