Job summary

YKHC is seeking a Community Health Aide/Practitioner to provide primary, urgent, and preventive care in village clinics across remote southwest Alaska. The role includes year-round coverage and potential itinerant assignments to multiple villages.

Candidates must be at least 18, have a high school diploma or GED, be nominated by the village council, and be willing to relocate or reside in the village. Certification as CHP and EMT/ETT is required or pursued, with training in RPMS and Telehealth.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be nominated by the Traditional or IRA Council of the village where service is provided.
  • Attend Health Aide Sessions I–IV to become a certified CHP.
  • Must be certified ETT or EMT.
  • Willing to travel to Bethel and other training sites for required trainings.
  • Communicate in English and ideally speak the local village language.
  • Able to provide year-round coverage including summers.
  • Willing to provide itinerant coverage to other YKHC villages as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary, acute, chronic and preventive health care at village clinics.
  • Deliver emergency care as needed.
  • Travel to Bethel and training sites for required trainings.
  • Provide year-round coverage including summers.
  • Offer itinerant coverage to other YKHC villages as assigned.
