Job summary

Ledgebrook in the Northwest seeks an experienced underwriting leader to drive performance and profitable growth. This executive role will head a regional underwriting team, own production, portfolio profitability, broker relationships, talent development and operational performance.

You will combine strong casualty underwriting expertise with proven leadership, commercial judgment and business-development capability, building senior relationships with wholesale brokers and refining underwriting

Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of commercial casualty underwriting experience, ideally within E&S or specialty insurance.
  • Proven experience leading underwriting teams and driving profitable growth.
  • Strong technical knowledge of complex casualty and general liability risks.
  • Success operating through a wholesale distribution mode.
  • Strong understanding of pricing, portfolio management and underwriting profitability.
  • Established relationships within the wholesale brokerage community.
  • An entrepreneurial, data-driven leadership style suited to a fast-growing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Northwest regional business plan, delivering profitable premium growth while maintaining underwriting discipline
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing underwriting team
  • Own regional production, pricing, profitability, portfolio management and service objectives
  • Monitor KPIs, submission flow, hit ratios, loss trends and pricing adequacy
  • Provide technical guidance and referral authority on complex casualty risks
  • Build senior-level relationships with key wholesale brokers and distribution partners
  • Identify market opportunities and lead regional business-development initiatives
  • Partner with Product, Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance and Distribution to refine underwriting strategy and appetite
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, recruitment, operational improvement and new product launches
  • Ensure compliance with underwriting authorities, carrier guidelines and regulatory requirements
