Our client is a Texas-based energy infrastructure company building a large on-site power business for data center and industrial customers. The business is backed by an established core operation and is moving from first projects to a multi-site generation fleet. They are hiring a senior leader to run the operating and markets side of that fleet.
The role
This is a senior leadership seat. You set market strategy, own how generation and storage assets are dispatched, operated and kept compliant, and direct new capacity from commissioning into steady-state operation.
What you'll do
- Set energy market strategy and commercial planning across regulated and unregulated markets
- Build and run market operations: generation dispatch, a 24-hour operations desk, and the systems behind them
- Own regulatory affairs and compliance for commercial and industrial power generation
- Direct deployment of thermal generation, battery storage and balance-of-plant assets, from program planning through commissioning to handover
- Lead asset operations: availability, performance, maintenance strategy and field service as the fleet grows
- Work with commercial and engineering teams so customer commitments translate into operable designs
- Own the controls, telemetry and dispatch technology roadmap with engineering and IT
- Manage the P&L for your area and build the team across markets, operations and project delivery
What you bring
- 12+ years in power generation, distributed energy or energy markets, with senior operating or P&L responsibility
- Hands-on experience running generation or distributed assets for industrial or data center customers, including dispatch, a market operations center or 24-hour desk, and regulatory affairs
- Working knowledge of ERCOT and other wholesale markets, and of utility and regulator relationships
- Program or project management of multi-site generation or DER deployments
- Technical depth (engineering or physics background preferred) alongside the commercial fluency to plan and defend a P&L
- Experience leading distributed teams
- Based in Texas, with regular travel to sites
Nice to have
- Time at a power equipment manufacturer, integrator or distributed power operator serving industrial or data center loads
- Retail energy, demand response or virtual power plant experience
- Experience in a public company during a capital-intensive growth phase
Why this role
- Equipment secured, first customer contracts signed and a pipeline in place, with the operating organization still being built, so you shape it
- Clear growth trajectory toward a fleet many times its current size
- A growing business backed by an established core operation
