Our client is a fast-growing Texas-based power generation company built around turbine technology.
Demand for fast, reliable and scalable power has surged as data centers, utilities and energy producers race to secure capacity. The business has recently placed multi-gigawatt equipment orders to meet that demand. It serves data centers, utilities, independent power producers, oil and gas, and industrial customers with both permanent and bridging power, and backs every installation with round-the-clock operational support.
This is an opportunity to join a leadership team in high-growth mode, where decisions are made quickly and your impact on the business will be visible straight away.
The company is looking for a hunter: a Business Development Director who wins net-new (conquest) accounts across the data center, utility and power generation markets. This isn't an account management role. You'll be responsible for opening doors, building relationships with new customers, and turning opportunities into multi-million-dollar contracts for large rotating equipment and power generation solutions.
You'll also lead a small, high-calibre commercial team that supports and grows the accounts you bring in.
Find, target and win new customers across hyperscale and colocation data centers, utilities, independent power producers and power generation
Build and manage a strong pipeline, from first approach to contract signature
Sell directly to end users and decision-makers, including owners, developers, energy and infrastructure leaders, and procurement teams
Lead complex, high-value deals, including commercial negotiations, proposals and contract terms
Position the company's mobile and modular power solutions against alternatives such as grid connection, reciprocating engines and permanent plants
Represent the business at industry events, conferences and customer sites
Lead and develop a team of four:
Make sure new accounts are handed over smoothly to account management, applications engineering and customer service
Set clear targets, coach the team and build a high-performance sales culture
Shape go-to-market strategy for priority sectors, especially data centers
Work closely with engineering, operations, project delivery and executive leadership in a fast-moving, in-office environment
Feed market and customer insight into product, pricing and capacity planning
Report on pipeline, forecasts and wins to the leadership team
A proven track record of winning conquest (net-new) accounts in direct B2B sales
Experience selling large rotating equipment (such as gas turbines, generators, compressors or similar capital equipment) or power generation solutions
Experience selling into data centers, utilities or power generation
A track record of closing complex, high-value capital equipment deals with long sales cycles
Experience leading or managing sales or commercial teams
Excellent negotiation, relationship-building and presentation skills
Able to work in the office in Spring, TX, and travel to customers about half the time
Direct sales experience with data center end users (hyperscale or colocation)
An established network among data center developers, utilities or independent power producers
Knowledge of distributed power generation, or bridging power.
A technical or engineering background, or a degree in engineering or business
Join a company in rapid growth, at the centre of the AI-driven surge in demand for power
A high-impact leadership role with real influence on the commercial direction of the business
A fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture where decisions are made quickly
Competitive base salary and bonus, plus benefits [add package details]
