Vice President – AI Risk & Technology Risk

Location: New York City

Our client is a premier global financial advisory firm that advises corporations, institutional investors, and other organizations on complex strategic and financial matters.

They are seeking a Vice President – AI Risk & Technology Risk to help build and mature the firm's approach to AI risk, governance, cybersecurity, and emerging technology risk.

This is a highly visible role that will work closely with executive leadership, technology teams, security stakeholders, and governance committees. The individual will help evaluate emerging AI technologies, establish appropriate governance and risk frameworks, and influence how AI is securely and responsibly adopted across the organization.

The position extends beyond AI governance and will also have exposure to broader technology risk, cybersecurity, security engineering, architecture, and detection capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Help build and mature the organization's AI Risk and AI Governance program, including frameworks, policies, standards, and controls.
• Evaluate AI platforms, models, tools, and emerging technologies from technology, cybersecurity, operational, and enterprise risk perspectives.
• Partner with senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders to establish appropriate governance around the adoption and use of AI.
• Identify and assess risks associated with new AI capabilities and translate technical findings into actionable recommendations for leadership.
• Develop processes for evaluating, documenting, monitoring, and managing AI-related risks across the organization.
• Support broader technology and cybersecurity risk initiatives, including security architecture, engineering, and detection capabilities.
• Partner with technical teams to strengthen security controls and influence the direction of enterprise security programs.
• Present risk considerations, recommendations, and program updates to executive leadership and governance committees.
• Stay current on developments across AI security, AI governance, emerging technology risk, cybersecurity, and evolving industry standards.

Ideal Background

• Strong experience across AI Risk, AI Governance, AI Security, Technology Risk, Cybersecurity, or related disciplines.
• Experience evaluating AI technologies and understanding the security, governance, and enterprise risks associated with their adoption.
• Demonstrated experience building or maturing governance frameworks, policies, controls, and risk programs.
• Strong foundation in broader cybersecurity and technology risk, with the ability to engage credibly with security engineering and architecture teams.
• Ability to operate at both the strategic and technical levels, translating complex technology risks into business considerations.
• Strong executive presence with experience communicating with senior leadership, executives, and governance committees.
• Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive initiatives in a highly visible environment.
• Experience within financial services, regulated organizations, or publicly traded companies is strongly preferred.
