MetLife in New York seeks a Vice President of AI Risk & Governance to lead risk governance for AI initiatives within Global Risk Management. You will define controls, challenge AI risk assumptions, and ensure alignment with risk appetite and regulatory expectations.

This hybrid role requires 12+ years in risk management, deep AI knowledge, and a track record of influencing senior stakeholders while shaping enterprise governance across data, legal, privacy, and technology teams.

Qualifications

• 12+ years’ risk management experience within financial services or regulated industry.
• Deep understanding of AI technologies and associated risks, including ML, generative AI, model risk, and data risk.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and enhancing enterprise governance frameworks, policies, standards, and approval processes.
• Demonstrated success operating within complex, matrixed organizations and influencing senior stakeholders across functions.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, judgment, problem-solving, and executive communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory, governance, and control expectations related to AI, models, data, and responsible AI practices.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI governance approval process, including risk-based review and escalation.
• Provide second-line challenge on acceptable AI use, controls, and mitigation strategies.
• Translate risk appetite and regulatory expectations into governance requirements.
• Identify and assess novel and cross-cutting AI risks.
• Improve AI risk and governance processes, including transparency and reporting.
• Support scalable governance and monitoring capabilities for AI risk.
• Embed controls across the AI lifecycle with business teams.
