Job summary

LPL Financial is seeking a Vice President to oversee risk governance for AI and related programs, shaping a defensible governance framework and guiding risk identification across the three lines of defense. This role requires collaboration with business, technology and control functions to enable responsible AI adoption at pace.

We’re looking for a builder-operator with deep experience in risk management, governance, and leadership within regulated financial settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Risk Management, Economics, Finance, or related discipline.
• 7–10+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, governance or related control function.
• 2+ years in AI risk management, governance or compliance-related roles.
• Prior leadership experience with a proven ability to lead and mentor teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve the AI governance framework, policies and standards in alignment with current and emerging regulatory landscape.
• Oversee, conduct and challenge risk assessments and gap analyses on AI solutions to identify and evaluate risks and ensure compliance.
• Define and challenge control expectations for AI development and deployment, including cybersecurity and governance processes.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure AI models align with AI risk frameworks and requirements.
• Assist in establishing and overseeing AI risk governance frameworks, including policy development and governance standards.
• Ensure adherence to industry best practices such as NIST AI RMF and ISO AI standards.
• Serve as subject matter expert and lead materials for executive risk and governance committees.
• Drive clear, well-reasoned risk decisions and ensure risks are documented and presented to executives.
• Communicate AI risk clearly to non-technical executives and translate regulatory nuance into action.
• Coordinate across risk and business stakeholders to ensure framework consistency.
• Partner with Cybersecurity, third-party risk, privacy, legal and compliance on integrated reviews.
• Help mature AI risk and governance operating model and track key risk indicators.
