Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti in New York is seeking a Vice President Mechanical Engineer for the Restoration & Renewal Practice. You will lead and manage mechanical projects, evaluating steam, chilled water, hydronics, HVAC, and building systems with attention to code compliance.

You will develop client relationships, propose scopes and fees, oversee budgets and staffing, and mentor a multidisciplinary team to deliver complex designs and field-ready drawings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• P.E. license in NY and knowledge of NYC building codes and industry mechanical codes.
• Demonstrated ability to develop new business, maintain client relationships, develop scope and fee proposals, and supervise multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficient in preparation and review of manual and software assisted calculations.
• Strong analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain client relationships.
• Develop scope and fee proposals and negotiate contracts.
• Manage budgets, schedule, and staffing.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team on projects of varying sizes.
• Lead the analysis, evaluation, design and specification of mechanical/HVAC systems.
• Supervise the development of design/renovation drawings.
• Prepare mechanical calculations, designs, and equipment selections.
• Prepare field notes, feasibility studies, cost analyses, reports, and specifications.
• Perform peer reviews and condition assessments, including cost estimating.
