Job summary

STV Incorporated is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our New York City office to lead HVAC and building systems design for diverse projects. You will work with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with clients to deliver code-compliant solutions from early design through construction.

The role requires a PE license, 10+ years of experience, and proficiency with Revit/BIM and energy modeling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• PE license required.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in HVAC and mechanical systems design for various facilities.
• Experience leading mechanical design tasks or projects and mentoring junior staff.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled/heating water, ventilation, and energy-efficient building systems.
• Proficiency with Revit and BIM-based workflows, including 3D modeling.
• Experience using HVAC load calculations and energy modeling software.
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel).
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, building and energy codes.
• Experience preparing specifications, reports, construction documents, calculations, and cost estimates.
• Strong verbal and written communication with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and deliver HVAC and mechanical systems for building projects.
• Develop mechanical concepts, perform calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection.
• Prepare construction documents, reports, specs, and cost estimates.
• Perform load calculations, energy modeling, ventilation analyses, and code reviews.
• Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical, plumbing, and other teams.
• Support leadership activities: scope, schedule, budget, resources.
• Lead tasks and manage deliverables across multidisciplinary teams.
• Meet with clients to discuss requirements and present recommendations.
• Mentor junior engineers, designers, and BIM staff.
• Stay current with building technologies, energy codes, and decarbonization trends.
