Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti in New York seeks a Senior Structural Engineer in Restoration & Renewal to own assessments, designs, and repairs for existing structures, applying advanced engineering principles to restoration and adaptive reuse projects.

You will lead small and mid-size projects, mentor junior staff, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and help guide project execution, growing leadership capabilities and client-facing experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of structural engineering experience focused on repair, renovation or rehabilitation.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and project documentation tools listed above.
• Strong problem-solving, judgment, and collaborative skills.
• Initiative to mentor others and contribute to technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural evaluations and develop advanced solutions for existing building systems.
• Review and produce technical reports, drawings, and client recommendations.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns on projects and standards.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors and clients to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to project planning, scheduling and technical decisions.
• Support ongoing learning and professional development for the team.
