Job summary

The College of Wooster seeks an Associate Vice President & Controller to lead the Business Office, oversee daily financial operations, and manage month-end and year-end closings. This role ensures accurate financial statements, 990/990T returns, and robust internal controls while guiding modernization efforts in finance and data strategy.

Reporting to the VP for Finance and Business, you will supervise accounting, accounts payable/receivable, endowment, and cash management; coordinate audits;

Qualifications

• Ideally a CPA with a Bachelor's in accounting and 10+ years in a complex organization (not-for-profit preferred).
• Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
• Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and reporting tools; experience with automation and AI-enabled finance solutions is a plus.
• Significant experience leading accounting and business teams, driving deadlines and high-quality financial execution.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accurate, efficient, and controlled processing of financial transactions through optimized workflows.
• Supervise Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions for the college.
• Oversee Endowment accounting and initiate investment manager transactions.
• Coordinate cash management and banking transactions.
