Job summary

Wittenberg University seeks a seasoned accounting professional to lead the university’s accounting operations and audits. The role oversees general/ subsidiary ledgers, annual audits, endowment/investment assets, and 990 filings, while guiding cash management and budgeting processes.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in accounting with GAAP expertise, CPA/Candidate preferred, and experience supervising staff in a university or non-profit setting. This is a full-time on-campus position in Ohio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree with 5–7 years of accounting experience.
• 3–5 direct accounting and related work experience.
• Proficient with Ellucian/Fundriver or similar accounting platforms.
• Advanced Excel/Data Management skills.
• CPA or CPA-Candidate preferred.
• Solid GAAP knowledge and application.
• Experience supervising accounting staff.
• Background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Manage general and subsidiary ledgers and financial statement prep.
• Oversee annual audit, footnotes, and 990 preparation.
• Supervise accounts payable/receivable staff and student accounts.
• Handle cash management and asset management (endowment/investments).
• Plan FASB updates and PPE accounting cycles.
• Oversee banking functions and month/quarter/year-end closings.
• Collaborate with Finance & Administration leadership on budgeting.
• Represent the University professionally in external relationships.
