Job summary

University of Hartford is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Finance and Controller to lead the university's financial reporting and internal control framework under the CFO. This role oversees Financial Accounting Services, Payroll, and Bursar operations and interacts with university committees and the Board.

The position requires a Master’s degree or CPA, strong GAAP knowledge, and proven leadership in higher education finance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required and/or CPA required.
• Experience in financial accounting, reporting and internal controls.
• Ability to manage audits and regulatory compliance.
• Strong leadership and communication with the Board and committees.
• Knowledge of Banner System.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial reporting and internal controls for University operations.
• Oversee audits and regulatory compliance; interact with internal/external auditors.
• Manage Financial Accounting Services, Payroll, and Bursar operations.
• Present monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements to internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist CFO on ad hoc projects and debt policy oversight.
