Job summary

VEG is hiring a Sonographer to provide ultrasound support for VEG hospitals and training facilities, collaborating with emergency doctors for same-day scans and expanding ultrasound education across home and regional sites.

You will guide learners, adapt to diverse cases, and contribute to curriculum development while traveling to regional hospitals and off-site facilities to advance skills and program goals.

Qualifications

• Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT/LVMT), diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS), and/or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years veterinary ultrasound experience.
• Previous training experience and the patience to teach and develop doctors, nurses, and fellow sonographers.
• Comfortable mentoring others and giving/receiving feedback from colleagues.
• Adaptability to changing environments.
• Excellent communicator with peers, customers, VEGgies.
• Embrace the VEG Way and be excited to share your perspective and experience.
• Eagerness to grow as a sonographer through training and continuing education.
• Desire to travel to regional hospitals and off-site training facilities (e.g., Fort Collins, CO; Las Vegas, NV; White Plains, NY).

Responsibilities

• Perform ultrasound studies and facilitate ultrasound training at your home hospital and regional hospitals.
• Maintain good relationships with and accept feedback from teleconsultation radiologists reading your studies (e.g., Antech, SonoPath, IDEXX, VetsChoice, etc.).
• Ensure all training content and activities are in alignment with VEG culture, mission, and vision, and represent accurate, up-to-date sonographic techniques.
• Track doctor and nursing team skills with a VEG Ultrasound Certificate checklist.
• Engage in self-reflection and program evaluation practices to modify and enhance VEG's ultrasound training programs.
• Regularly meet with the medical directors, nursing trainer, and director of radiology education to discuss program development, training objectives, and additional needs.
• Regularly meet with the hospital manager and medical director to discuss implementation of new training protocols, training schedules, hospital training needs, and team concerns.
• Coordinate weekly schedule to work on the floor shifts with the hospital manager and medical director and devote time to training responsibilities.
• May assist in developing ultrasound curriculum material, such as PowerPoints, videos, simulations, and assessments to be implemented across the doctor and nursing team training programs.
• May provide educational demonstrations for doctors and nurses at other VEGs, including ultrasound topics, such as abdominal, thoracic, cardiac, cervical, and musculoskeletal studies.
