Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Technician to provide high-quality care for Vetco Total Care patients and exceptional service to pet owners. You will support veterinarians in exams, surgeries, dentistry, and anesthesia, while maintaining accurate medical records and a welcoming client experience.

The role requires credentialing as a veterinary technician and at least one year of patient-care experience, with strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• College or college-equivalent education required for Credentialed Veterinary Technician.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be compassionate and professional under stressful situations.
• Telephone and computer skills.
• Team player willing to learn new techniques.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, obtain weight and vital signs, and document visit in the electronic medical record.
• Assist veterinarian with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Restrain patients, process lab samples, dispense medications as directed, and maintain records.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, communicate test results, and manage inventory and records.
• Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, monitor anesthesia, and discharge or transfer as needed.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and maintain a clean, safe hospital environment.
