Job summary

CityVet- South Hulen is looking for Veterinary Technicians to join our team! A Veterinary Technician Assistant will be considered (with a minimum of 1-year experience).

The Veterinary Technician is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and helping the Veterinarian maximize efficiency in daily practice. This role supports the operating room, front office, and client communications with a focus on compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
• Ability to restrain animals safely.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and medication.
• Lift 50 lbs to waist height.
• Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting and reaching.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Self-motivated and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarians - prep patients for surgery, monitor post-op, restrain animals during exams.
• Obtain samples - gather stool, blood, and other samples for testing.
• Testing - test the samples gathered and help to interpret the results.
• Administer medications - give patients accurate dosages of prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other medications indicated by the DVM.
• Client communication - obtain medical information from the clients and provide the client proper instruction on how to care for the animal under the veterinarian’s plan of care.
• Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed.
