Job summary

Four Paws Animal Hospital in O’Fallon, Illinois is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant. This full-time role offers growth opportunities in a collaborative, AAHA-aligned practice with a strong focus on high-quality medicine.

You will assist veterinarians, perform clinical procedures, monitor anesthesia, and provide compassionate care to hospitalized patients while maintaining excellent client communication and accurate medical records.

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is required.
  • Credentialed veterinary technicians are encouraged to apply; experienced assistants are welcome.
  • Current veterinary technician credentials welcomed but not required for experienced assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory testing, and sample collection based on experience.
  • Obtain high-quality diagnostic radiographs.
  • Support surgical and dental procedures, including preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and recovery.
  • Provide attentive nursing care for hospitalized, surgical, and recovering patients.
  • Monitor patient comfort, vital signs, and overall condition throughout treatment and recovery.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients about their pets’ care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and patient documentation.
  • Keep treatment areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for patient care.
  • Support efficient hospital workflow through teamwork, professionalism, and clear communication.
