Veterinary Technician

Part-time: 25-29 hours per week, rotating Saturdays required.

Location: San Antonio, TX

About You

As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your work will include outpatient treatments, laboratory tests, surgery assistance, and support services like admitting and discharging patients.

Experience & Skills Requirements:

• Veterinary technician licensure required or 2-3 years of Veterinary Assistant experience, depending on state requirements
• 1-2 years of clinical experience
• Surgical, anesthesia, and dental experience required
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is preferred; or equivalent education, training, and experience

Role Responsibilities:

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality care, advocate for pets, and educate clients
• Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with state regulations for credentialed veterinary technicians
• Communicate with clients about pet health concerns and Thrive Membership options
• Maintain medical records with practice systems
• Obtain health history and information from clients, maintain medical charts
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow protocols, and keep treatment areas clean and organized
• Mentor and support fellow team members

About the Hospital

Thrive Terrell Plaza is a primary care hospital in San Antonio, TX, open Monday-Friday 8am-6pm and Saturday 8am-12pm.
