Job summary

United Veterinary Care offers externships across our network of over 100 hospital locations in more than 20 states. This clinical experience is designed for veterinary students in their 3rd or 4th year, with hands-on participation in GP, ER, and specialty settings under supervision.

Stipends are available to offset travel and lodging costs, helping students apply classroom knowledge in real-world hospital environments at Firehouse Animal Health Center-Westlake in Austin, TX, and partner

Qualifications

• Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA‑accredited veterinary school
• Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit
• Must provide proof of professional liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in cases under supervision
• Be supervised by an experienced veterinarian and support staff
• Participate in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments.
