United Veterinary Care offers veterinary externships across a network of over 100 hospital locations in more than 20 states. The program provides hands-on clinical experience in GP, ER, and specialty settings, with mentorship and case discussions to integrate students into real-world practice.

Externships are designed for clinical-year students at AVMA-accredited schools, with stipends to offset travel and lodging costs.

Qualifications

• Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited school.
• Priority scheduling is given to students in clinical years on externship blocks for school credit.
• Must provide proof of professional liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Externships include case discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and hands-on patient care in GP, ER and specialty settings.
• Supervised by an experienced veterinarian and support staff; students participate in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, and routine medical appointments.
