Job summary

United Veterinary Care offers externships for veterinary students across our network of hospitals. This clinical experience lets students apply classroom knowledge in real-world hospital settings, focusing on GP, ER, and specialty rotations.

Externships are designed for clinical-year students at AVMA-accredited schools, with supervision from experienced veterinarians. Stipends are available to offset travel and lodging costs, and the program emphasizes hands-on learning through case discussions

Qualifications

• Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
• Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit.
• Must provide proof of professional liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in cases and hands-on patient care under supervision.
• Engage in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments.
• Discuss case findings with supervising veterinarian and confirm plans as a team.
