Job summary

United Veterinary Care offers externships for veterinary students across a network of over 100 hospital locations in more than 20 states. This clinical experience lets third- and fourth-year students participate in GP, ER, and specialty cases, with hands-on patient care and case discussions integrated into the team.

Externships provide mentorship under experienced veterinarians, with stipends available to offset travel and lodging costs where allowed by the veterinary school.

Qualifications

• Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
• Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in cases and contribute to clinical discussions under supervision.
• Be involved in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments as part of the externship.
• Discuss cases with supervising veterinarians to confirm findings and plan the team's next steps.
