Job summary

United Veterinary Care offers externships across our network, allowing veterinary students to apply classroom knowledge in real hospital settings at our East El Paso location. Externships provide hands-on experience in GP, ER, and specialty services with mentorship from a team of doctors and support staff.

Stipends are available to offset travel and lodging costs, helping students participate across multiple hospitals while earning school credit and clinical exposure.

Qualifications

• Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited school.
• Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit.
• Must provide proof of professional liability insurance. SAVMA members qualify for no cost insurance by applying at the SAVMA link.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in case discussions and collaborative problem solving.
• Hands-on patient care supervision by experienced veterinarians in GP, ER, and specialty settings.
